Budget update 2016

George Osbourne delivered his budget today, here are a selection of highlights:

– Corporation tax to be cut further to 17 % by April 2020
– Commercial stamp duty will be cut for lower bands from midnight tonight
– A new sugar levy to be introduced on soft drink companies to combat obesity in children
– School days look to be extended by one hour
– Fuel duty will NOT be increased
– Capital gains tax cut to 20% for higher rate and 10% for lower rate tax payers
– Personal ISA savings limit increased to £20k per year
– New Under 40 lifetime ISA introduced
– Personal allowance increased to £11,500 from April 2017
– Higher rate tax band increased to £45,000 from next year
